Even though our diner at Pubologi is a while ago, the water runs back in my mouth while I am writing about the dish with the scallops. I dare to say, hand on the heart, that this must have been the best preparation of scallops I have ever tasted. The scallops in the seafood pasta I had at B.A.R. is a close second.
Top 20 best restaurants of Sweden!
Pubologi is a small but extremely cozy restaurant in Gamla Stan. The innovative restaurant is located on Stora Nygatan 20 and has an honorable mention in the renowned White Guide. Although they have no stars yet, the Michelin Guide Pubologi has been in the recommended lists for several years. In 2016, the restaurant was ranked 19th in the list with Sweden’s 20 best restaurants. It will not surprise you that the restaurant is often fully booked. I booked a week in advance and was lucky to find place for two in the early evening.
Long table
The decoration of Pubologi is amazing. All around wine bottles are displayed. On the ceiling they have old suitcases. You can sit at the little tables on the sides or, like us, go for a spot on the big table in the middle. The table has drawers where you can find the menu and your cutlery.
Unique menu
Upon arrival, the staff explains the concept of Pubologi. They serve a variety of small dishes, so you can taste many different dishes. So you can order multiple dishes to share or order 2 dishes to have a full meal.
We first chose a few snacks to share like oysters and the scallops, I mentioned above. Then we each chose another dish. I went for the tarbot with asparagus. Very sophisticated! Both in terms of flavors and presentation. Yes, there is a rather expensive price tag for Pubologi (although I only paid 60 euros for 2 ‘appetizers’ and 2 half dishes) but I found it was worth every Swedish crown!
