Sleep on water: Prince van Orangiën

Prince van Orangiën is a stylish boat hotel at Beckholmen (Djurgården) which is part of Oaxen Krog & Slip. This former river boat is transformed into a nice boutique hotel with 6 rooms.

Unique boat hotel

Prince van Orangiën has 6 cabins including 3 suites with private bathrooms. The three smaller cabins share a luxurious bathroom. Guests also have access to the cozy living room and sun deck. There is wifi but it does not work equally well all over the ship. The staff is very friendy and makes you feel at home. They are always available if you have any extra questions.

In the bathroom you will find products from the well-known Swedish brand LA:Bruket. You can also buy these products at the hotel. Something I can only recommend (if you have no fluid restrictions for your luggage) as you then have the scent of your city trip at home and get to relive great memories with every shower!

Breakfast is served on the outside deck, on summer days. There is yogurt with fruit and homemade granola, an assortment of bread with various jams, fresh juice, coffee and boiled eggs.

Prince van Orangiën has free bikes available to guests. Convenient because Stockholm is truly a bike-friendly city. You can also take a bike ride on Djurgården.

Tram 7 (stop: Skansen) brings you up close to the hotel. The Prince van Orangiën is hidden a bit, just across Oaxen Krog & Slip. The hotel is near the bridge which connects Beckholmen to Djurgården.

The history of the Prince van Orangiën

The Prince van Orangiën has, as the name suggests, Dutch roots. The 35 meter long ship was built in 1935 at a shipyard in the Dutch Gendt. It was originally the home and office of a prominent shipowner who sailed across Europe. Some time later the ship was in Belgian hands and it served as a river cruise boat. In 2008, the Prince of Orangiën found a new home in Sweden.
